AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A SHOE (Pt. 2)

Every shoe has a mind of their own...

I was the only boot of my kind still sittin’ in the store. To be honest, it was a lonely feeling. All my friends had already been adopted and left the ranch. It was January 2007, and a traumatic ice storm was going on -- it was like a buckin’ bronco ragin’ outside. It was warmer than a campfire in the store, but the feeling I had inside was cold like an early Texas snow.
I heard the front door open, I was sitting close enough that a gust of chill air hit me. A bubbly woman named Tammy walked in; I could tell she was sassy and quicker than a rattlesnake. Being the cowboy type, I can tell these things from the moment someone walks in.
I overheard her talking about how she was going on six days without electricity and she was sick and tired of it! She decided that the perfect cure for cabin fever was shopping.
I looked that lady up and down, carefully studying her feet.
“That foot would fit in me! It would fit!” I thought to myself.
(I’m very good at determining these things. Sitting on a shelf for days and days gets boring!)
Tammy started looking around at all the other shoes. As she neared me I held my breath... I wasn’t sure if she was a western boot kind of gal. I’m a good lookin’ boot, so I was pretty sure I could curve her opinion.
She walked up to me and her eyes brightened. She brushed her hand against my dark velvet sides. She thought I was beautiful. Then, she said she didn’t know if she wanted me! She claimed she had never owned a pair of western boots before. I sunk a little lower on my shelf... it wasn’t soundin’ good.
“But they are so pretty, and they are Donald Pliner!” Tammy exclaimed, unconsciously talking herself into it.
I sat up a little straighter! (You know you want me.)
Soon, she was informed that there was only ONE pair in stock. I was her size! If that’s not fate, I don’t know what is!
She decided to buy me! I sparked Tammy’s love of western styled boots. That love still continues to this day. Now she has an estimate of nine pairs of western boots. YEEE HAWW!
