THE TREND: PASTEL DENIM

One of the key trends for spring is pastel denim. It adds a playful touch to any outfit and is very versatile. You may have seen pastel ensembles on the spring 2013 runway and thought full pastel was a little too “sweet” for you. It may be sweet, but it can also be sassy. 

Pair with Neutrals

One of the easiest ways is to pair them with a neutral top … Think of it as business on the top, party on the bottom. Add a pop-worthy clutch or metallic belt to add some flavor.

If you’re feeling feisty and fierce, swap your plain neutral top for a leopard print blouse. This will give the ultimate sweet but sassy vibe, and cause onlookers to take a second glance. Pair this outfit with a tan leather bootie for the day, or a pump for the evening.

Wearing pastel denim with a chambray button-up blouse is a casual but cool way to mix it up. As for shoes, you can wear pumps, or take the super-casual route and wear your favorite pair of Converse-styled sneakers.

Monochromatic color schemes are hot this spring! Mix a pair of soft yellow jeans with a bold yellow blouse and a pair of tan leather wedges. To take this look to its edge, carry a neon yellow bag or a yellow suede clutch. Have fun with this one, and mix different shades of your color of choice. Or go with a blue monochromatic color scheme like the photo. 

Pair with Grey

Grey, light or dark, goes great with pastel jeans. This will achieve the most casual look out of all the pastel pairings, which is great for running errands, shopping, or morning strolls at the local farmers’ market.
